NECC were delighted to welcome Dame Kelly Holmes as the after dinner speaker at our recent Tyne & Northumberland Dinner. We had almost 350 guests at the event and all of our guests without exception found Dame Kelly’s inspirational story a joy to hear. Dame Kelly was gracious when talking about her experiences, genuinely and straight from the heart. The icing on the cake was the guests having the opportunity to meet Dame Kelly for photographs and a chat. A truly wonderful individual who I can whole heartedly recommend.

Dame Kelly Holmes received four standing ovations during her presentation, indeed when we ask her to present again we’ll remove all the chairs completely! Her speech went way beyond the “motivational” brief, she is truly inspiring and above all authentic – completely natural. She went the extra mile with all our guests – answering their tweets at lunch, inviting them over for a chat, posing for photographs, meeting every request for an autograph with a carefully composed message as well – having run events for nine years I can say I’ve never known any sports personality be so accommodating, charming and helpful. The post event guest feedback from our 400 delegates is the highest rating we’ve had for any presenter.

Thank you for your contribution to the Headteacher Seminar at the Ashford International Hotel. I have read through all the delegate feedback forms and I have never seen so many positive comments. The words inspirational and enjoyable were used repeatedly.
Your presence at the Seminar and the manner in which you related and communicated with the young performers was outstanding. I am sure this will remain a ‘treasured moment’ for all of them throughout their lives.
In total there were 170 educational establishments represented at the Seminar. If we assume that the average roll of each establishment is 300, then this means that we have been able to reach out over 50,000 young people indirectly through their school leaders.

From the moment Dame Kelly arrived, she was keen to work, and find out all the details relating to the school and how this development was achieved. Dame Kelly was interested and a delight to speak with.
We were in no way prepared for what a great speech she would make to the children. Hereford Cathedral was packed with 600 pupils and staff, and she held us all transfixed with her speech. It was inspirational. Her presentation style was relaxed, she walked around and really engaged with the pupils; the question and answer session went down really well.
Dame Kelly then went to the junior school to meet the 3-7 year old children, who were equally excited and dreamt up some great questions which were again handled with ease by Dame Kelly. Her whole style was so genuine with the children, which is what the whole day was about.
The adults had a opportunity to speak with and ask autographs of Dame Kelly at the lunch, at which she made time for everyone. If we hadn’t called a halt to the autograph signings, I think she would have stayed all day.
We had a truly memorable day, and would like to thank Dame Kelly for making it such a happy occasion.
