Team B&Q is led by double Olympic champion Kelly Holmes. Kelly is determined to make a positive difference to Team B&Q and inspire the athletes to pursue their Olympic ambitions.

B&Q has formed a partnership with the British Olympic Association to support the British team from now until the Beijing Olympics in 2008. The commitment, drive and enthusiasm of Team GB athletes reflects our own ‘You Can Do It’ personality so the partnership is a perfect fit for our brand.
As part of their commitment to Team GB, B&Q is supporting a squad of its very own athletes. This team consists of a mixture of Olympians and aspiring Olympians, all of whom are aiming to be selected for Team GB in the future Olympic and Paralympic Games of Turin 2006 and Beijing 2008.

A team of 11 aspiring Olympians who are working in B&Q stores across the UK and enjoying the benefits and support of full-time employment whilst being given the flexibility to work part-time hours around their rigorous training and competition schedules. By working in-store these athletes also gain from B&Q’s training and development programme, which will help teach them new skills as well as open up the door to potential career opportunities within B&Q.

In addition to employment, the aspiring athletes receive ongoing mentoring from the 8 experienced Olympians.
Over the next 4 years, Team B&Q athletes will also be used to motivate ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Through a number of initiatives and community outreach programmes, including in-store motivational talks and coaching programmes at local schools/community centres, Team B&Q athletes will soon become well-known as ‘You Can Do It’ ambassadors within their communities.
