Forceselect Foundation Appoints Dame Kelly Holmes As Trustee Ahead Of Launch
London, 9 June 2010
London, June 9 2010 – The ForceSelect Foundation is delighted to announce that double Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes has been appointed as a Trustee ahead of its first meeting in central London today.

The ForceSelect Foundation, which is led by former Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Mike Jackson (next to Kelly on the photo above with Stephen Morris and Rebekah Brooks), will use a percentage of the profits from leading recruitment consultancy and sister company, ForceSelect, as well as a number of stand-alone charity initiatives, corporate and individual donations.
These funds will be distributed by the Trustees to a number of military charities with a particular focus on smaller service charities and events.
Following the first ForceSelect Foundation Trustee meeting, Dame Kelly Holmes said: “I spent almost ten years in the army and I’m honoured to have been invited by General Jackson to join the ForceSelect Foundation.
“There are so many worthwhile military charities that deserve support from the ForceSelect Foundation and I’m looking forward to making a contribution to the lives of those who have given so much for their country.”
Also appointed as a Trustee was Rebekah Brooks, chief executive of News International, who, together with Dame Kelly is joined on the ForceSelect Foundation Board of Trustees by Stephen Morris, non executive chairman of the Burlington Recruitment Group and General Jackson.
Chairman General Sir Mike Jackson added: “We have ambitious plans for the ForceSelect Foundation and will help a wide range of smaller military charities who perhaps get overlooked at present but nevertheless do a tremendously worthwhile job supporting service men and women and their families when they need it most.
“I’m very excited about our plans for the ForceSelect Foundation and Dame Kelly will be a great asset as we seek to raise funds from a variety of sources. She is recognised throughout the world and already does a huge amount of fantastic work for charity including chairing her own charity, the DKH Legacy Trust. Her experience and input will be invaluable.”
ForceSelect Foundation Director is Damon Jarrett, a former Captain in the 9th/12th Royal Lancers as well as a fundraiser for the Big Lottery Fund and Help For Heroes.
The ForceSelect Foundation will pool all raised funds and encourage applications from smaller service charities and events. Twice a year the trustees will sit to consider the applications and award grants accordingly.
It will look to build strong links with the charities and encourage subsequent bids if the awards have fulfilled their original aims.
