I did the disco on Friday night (20th) for the Witham mayors ball, which was also in aid of the Helon Rolinson Cancer Research Fund. The organisers of the event were shall we say not very organised. Didn't even tell me it going to be a dicky bow tie job, (like the Proclaimers video). Less said about the organisation the better. But dispite their lack of organisation, along with my music, they managed to raise over £3,000 towards the cancer appeal they were raising money for.:clap::thumbup::boogie:

I bought Iron Maiden's CD "The Number of the Beast" this afternoon. I will play it in my car on the way to Southsea, before the Isle of Wight Marathon. The most appropriate track is "Run to the Hills," which I will be doing with a vengence:devil:

I will be doing my DJ thing this Saturday, entertaining a crowd of SOG's (Steve's old geezers) for a senior lonely hearts club. Did you know it was 40 years ago today that SGT Peppers band began to play.:boogie:

Apart from hil strider and myself, not many of you on here would have heard of a band called Pink Floyed. They were a mainly a rock band. But one of their hit singles has a crowd of school children singing the words and chorus. It was called 'Brick in the Wall'. In case you don't know it, I've written the words down for you to sing to your family and friends. Oh and I've changed some of them a bit.

    We didn't need any, education,
We don't need any, thought control,
They forced a logo, on our Nation,
They didn't let us have, any thought control.:boogie:
Because all we are is, another Brick in the Wall,
All we are is just, another Brick in the Wall.:boogie:
Sebastian Coe has upset, the nation,
The London logo was, not a sensation,
They didn't let the kids, try to design,
They didn't let the kids use, our minds,
Hey Seb Coe, give the kids a chance.:boogie:
Because all they are is a, another Brick in the Wall,
All they are is another, Brick in the Wall.:boogie:
    Shame on you Seb Coe.

I'm a great fan of Pink Floyd, went to see them in Wembly in 1988 - best concert I've been to.

Nice one Steve. Pink Floyd definately one of the best bands of all time.

Regarding your mention of Sgt. Pepper; I mentioned in another thread that I thought the 2012 Logo belonged on the cover of that album. A product of a bad LSD trip.

I found a CD this afternoon of Marc Bolan, who was very popular in the seventies. I was wondering whether any of the younger ones on here had heard of him. HIs greatest hits were probably "I love to boogie, Ride a white swan, and Get it on."

Anyone watching Eurovision tonight? For once we the UK have a great entry and should do well. But, I said that about Scootch last year but we didn't come anywhere. 'If Only' is good to dance to at a disco so maybe it will do better than Scootch.:boogie::cool:

some of my friends went to see the spice girls in concert in january or some time like that.. btu the tickets costed mearly £200 EACH!

i dnt think i will be going :S

    haha

  12.
I watched the Eurovision, and as expected, we came last. Not because the song was bad, but because all eastern european countries vote for each other. We might as well drop out of the competition, and see how they miss our financial contributions.
  13.
yeh HS, i agreee actually. Its all political and i think it is so unfair. Mybe they should like number the acts and not say what country they are... then they could vote for the best singers!!
Even Terry Wogan is/has dropped out because he says its all to political and a bit of a waste of time!

Hey.... wow I have not been on here for an age! Right, gonna go through as many of the questions as I could read (there is a lot in this thread!) I can play the piano to quite a good standard, I can play the drums and am learning to play the guitar.... I love all sorts of music... from rnb to soul to pop to rock.... Alicia Keys recent album rocks.... as does Blondie etc... see what I mean (eclectic!)
I saw We Will Rock you which was ace cos I love Queen and I went to see the Spice girls back in the day when they were first out,and I saw them again in Jan! They were amazing!!
I also saw take that reunion tour.... I am a right geek!
Dame Kelly, I hope you had a fab time at mama mia, although I realise that was ages ago, but have only just seen you went!
Eurovision, I missed, however I agree with the fact that with it being political, what is the point? The UK are never going to win because noone votes for us!
Anyway, Im rabbiting on now because I feel I have not been on here in ages, so hey everyone! xx

Cant believe Kylie's 40 (28th May).:surprised: I'm one of only a few on here who remembers Kylie in Neighbours in the 80's. I wish I could afford to go and see her X tour when its in the UK, I should be so lucky.:boogie: I only hope Kylie doesn't over do things. We don't want a repeat of what happened on her last tour a few years ago. And she's still single. So there's hope for me yet ha ha :rolling:

chloe i love coldplays new song.... violet hill we are talking about yes? its fab!

Not really my scene, but I did watch the Britains Got Talent final. I thought Faral Smith, the 12 year old singer was fantastic, and should have won. Also the four classical musicians were superb. The winner was ok, but I'm sure Prince Charles would rather watch the singer or musicians.

Because I don't have the modern equipment to record anything off the tely, I stayed up late on Sunday night to watch the Paul MacCartney concert on bbc 2.:cool::boogie: Although I enjoyed what they showed, I was a bit miffed with the bbc for only showing highlights and not the whole thing. I went on Paul MacCartney's web site yesterday and he gave you a list of the songs he was going to be singing on the night of the concert. I counted 8 songs that he sang, which the bbc didn't show. I've written to the bbc to complain, not that it would do any good. With all the modern Interactive channels they have available, basically there was not excuse. Hopefully, they will show the whole thing at a later date. As I walked down 'Penny Lane' up the 'Long Winding Road' I heard a 'Blackbird Singing in the dead of night'. Great music and Sir Paul MacCartney is a legend in his own life time. Just like Dame Kelly.:wink:

I didn't stay up to watch it, although I did video a performance he did at the Cavern several years ago. "Strawberry Fields for Ever."

I actually saw the original Cavern, although it was disused then. I saw it being knocked down, and the arches etc. They then built a car park on the site. After a few years, they dug up the car park and built the new Cavern, which isn't in the same place as the original. I used to drink in "the Grapes Pub," where the Beatles and other Merseyside Groups used to drink. Great memories!

Buying Kylie Minogue's album X is value for money, that's if you like Kylie, which I do.:smile: There's been 3 singles taken off the X album already, with another one being released next month, July, called (I'm) 'The One'. There's at least another 3 on the album that would sell well as a single.

As a DJ, you cant beat a bit of Kylie to fill the dance floor. Wow Wow Wow. :boogie: Maybe one day I will get to see Kylie in concert. 'I should be so Lucky'.
