    Hi Everyone,

It is so cool to see you all chatting on here, some of the discussion really make me laugh....

So as you probably know I have started my own charity the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust www.dkhlegacytrust.org and I am looking for people to run for my charity.

We still have some places for the Tunbridge Wells half marathon (I am starting it...not running) I so far have 15 people of all different abilities and we are looking for 5 more!

What we ask is for you to commit to raise £250 for us over a period of time (or more if you like). In return you will get some gifts....

    You can email info@dkhlegacytrust.org

So please let me know as it would be great to meet you.

    Lots of Love Kelly xxxxx

Great to here from you Dame Kelly. Sadly, my old knees won't stand up to running or walking a half marathon. I've recently moved to a sheltered housing flat which is on the first floor and my knees don't like the steps. Getting my disco gear up and down the stairs is a major problem.:shamed: But what I have done to help you out is tell all the nice people I'm in touch with on both Facebook and My Space about your charity run. I've included a link to your Trusts web site. If they click on that they will go straight to your site. Hope that helps. Sorry I cant help phisicaly. I'm afraid I'm not another hill strider.

For the young ones I've no doubt that the opportunity will be there in two years so we'll be counting on you!

For the not so young ones we appreciate your support anyway, and hopefully Hill strider you might be able to join at some point in the future?

For all of you here, I would like to add that Dame Kelly would indeed like to meet you. She doesn't get much time to write on here but she does take a look at your discussions every time she can and knows that youguys have been supporting her website by contributing on here for a long time. So we will try to make this happen in the future.

    Watch this space!

    Flo

Thanks Flo. It would be great for us all to meet Dame Kelly, but I'm sure we all know on here how busy she is. I personally have had a good year since turning 60 in March. Going to see Sir Paul MacCartney on the 22nd of this month will be the icing on my cake. Its nice to know that one day I will meet the great Dame Kelly.

I do seem to spend my life rushing about and not knowing which way up I am. It's an interesting question whether my life would be better spent trying to raise money for worthwhile causes or trying to contribute to sports science, it's a valid question, maybe the thing that decides me is my knees, they are like weather vanes, one spot of rain and it's pain haha

I got back from my 5 day break in Bournemouth last night having enjoyed mostly good weather and the company of my family. On Sunday the 20th we went into Boskham and walked down the chine to where it came out opposite Boskham pier. As we got nearer Boskham pier we heard the sound of a base drum and wondered where it was coming from. When we reached the front, we discovered there was a charity race taking place along the prom between Bournemouth and Boskham pier's. It was a lady's only run and they were all dressed in pink. We were told it was run for life and the lady's were running for a breast cancer charity. :boogie::cheer::clap::swingin::thumbup: It was the first time I had witnessed a charity run at first hand and only seen it on the tv before. Great atmasphere, great turn out, there must have been thousends of them taking part and it was for a good cause. Well done lady's.
