On Thursday the 9th April I took myself off to London and the Ideal Home Exibition at Earls Court. Apart from the short drive to my local station, I went all the way there by train. Although the exibition was well presented with those who were taking part, sadly you could see that the world credit crunch had taken its affect. Instead of both exibition halls being open, there was just the original main hall open. It was ok though, I endjoyed it. On my way back on the train I was able to take in more of the seanary, specially as we went through Stratford. The 2012 Olympic site is coming on strong. The main athletic stadium still had some work to be done, but what had been done looked very impresive. :swingin::clap: It should be finished within the year.

If you go onto the london 2012 website and go on webcams, you can clearly see the shame of the stadium coming on. All thats needed is the track, seating, a bit more of the outside and the inside and they should be there!

I've just been reading the bbc's olympics page. They are looking into suggestions made by bloggers as to how the opening ceremony should go. I've posted an idea on there that would combine a few of them together. My idea would be to try and get Sir Paul MacCartney to rewrite the Beatles hit 'All you need is love' and call it 'All you need is sport'. Then get a gospel choir to sing it to a regga beat while a large group of seven, eight and nine years olds do arabatics and dance to the music.:boogie::rasta::cool::smile: What a good idea, even though I thought of it myself.

I've just been watching Boris Johnson on a bbc video where he is talking about his plans to entertain all the people who will be visiting London in 2012. He has a lot of plans and Boris talks a great party. Lets hope he can deliver. I've copied the following link to the web page where you can see the video and pasted it below. Just copy and paste the link below to your browser or go straight to the bbc's main sports page and follow the link there. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympicgames/london2012/8590863.stm

As you will remember I got myself in trouble on here a few years ago with my views on the London Logo. So the less said about that the better. I've just seen the two London 2012 Olympic mascots on 'The One Show'. I'm pleased to say that I think they are great. What a breath of fresh air.:thumbup: At least you can design your own items using the mascots as a guide. From what I understand, The One Show will be visiting the new Olympic site soon, possibly next week.:swingin::smile: If you missed the one show, you can see the mascots on the bbc's sports web site.

Although it will be down to each individual's performance that wins Team GB a high medal tally at the 2010 London Olympics, it was good to hear today that Stella McCartney has been chosen to design Team GB's outfits for the games. Cyclist Victoria Pendleton has given her approval. To watch a short video interview with both Victoria and Stella, go to the bbc's sports web site.:smile:

I enjoyed the bbc's coverage of the 2 years to London Olympics this afternoon. Some great story's from past Olympicians and an insight to the progress that's being made to the different stadiums. Towards the end of their coverage they had Michael Johnson running along side local children on a specially laid track to give us an idea of what it will be like in 2 years time. Great program. BUT, Why Michael Johnson? Why not Dame Kelly or some other famous British athlete? I understand this is the British Olympics and its being held in Britain. If it was to be held in the USA, would they have asked a British athlete to Christen a new track? I don't think so. I'm sure Dame Kelly could have run 100 yards with them young one's. I've got nothing against Michael Johnson, but his not British. It spoilt what could have been an ideal opening.

Regarding my above posting. I know now why Dame Kelly didn't run in London yesterday. On the early morning news today I spotted Dame Kelly standing next to the Prime Minister with other sports and business people as they were about to board a plan to India for a business promotional visit. I'm sure we all wish her well and success. As for yesterday in London, I'm sure they could have found another British athlete to run with the young locals.

I agree Steve, Johnson seems to have his finger in all the pies now.
