i think another thing that has to be asked is.. WHO SHOULD LIGHT THE 2012 TORCH??
i think it should be Dame Kelly, she ahs inspired so so sooooo many people and inspired so many children in the upcoming generaiton of athletics and sport that i think she really does deserve to have the honour of lighting the torch! what does everybody else think?

Chris Hoy I dont think will be there for 2012.

Good thing we beat France in the medal table (4th / 10th)- Just shows the IOC was right to award the games to London and not Paris.

PR site has been down since yesterday mr. jack - perhaps it's being updated

Yes why didn't Boris Johnson do his jacket up? I thought you were only supposed to unbutton to sit down - I must be old fashioned haha. It was really hot though - you could tell afterwards... Seb Coe was in his shirt sleeves.

I haven't been able to access PR's forum for a couple of weeks now. If it is being updated, then it's not before time. It's hopelessly out of date, and Paula hasn't "appeared" since October.

Team GB did us proud and I am glad to be British. I'm sure the 2012 Olympics will be an outstanding success, with all seats for all events sold out. No need to bus in anyone to fill the seats, as was the case in Beijing.

Dave Collin's Contract is up for renewal soon, does anyone think that he will get sacked, as we only got 4 medals for athletics? Actually, his contract runs until March 09, but I don't think he will be "in post" after that.

Not sure about Dave Collins but the relay coach/s might be on shakey ground. There were problems in all the relays; even the ones the British team finished.

Yes I had tears of pride watching our SUPER Team GB coming off the plane at Heathrow.:bigsmile: As far as Boris is conserned, I have mixed feelings about Boris. I think Boris is a breath of fresh air with his light hearted approach on anything to do with politics and sport, but sometimes he speaks before engaging his brain. His a charactor, Britain needs more charactors like Boris. I did agree with something he said. Wiff Waff (ping pong) is coming home, team GB is coming home and most of all the 2012 Olympics is coming home to London:rolling::cheer::clap:

As for Dave Collins. He is meant to be performance director. Basically, apart from the 4 that did bring back medals, our athletes didn't perform. Its not just the fault of our athletes, Dave Collins is in charge of getting our athletes to perform, basically, he didn't. I remember saying before he got the job that Dame Kelly should get the job. As its turned out, I've been proved right. I still believe DK is the only one that can turn things around for our athletes. Although there's only 4 years to go, if anyone can turn things around, Dame Kelly can.:smile:

:surprised: It was Janet Evans record she beat. I remember her setting it, and I remember Mark Spitz winning his medals too...

Someone I know said she thought Rebecca Adlington had muscley arms, what do you think? I'm not sure

To me everyone has muscly arms.

Probably because Im a distance runner naturally and has twigs :neutral:

  2.

Spitz broke the 400m record three times, all in times slower than Rebecca. Spitz never held the 800m record, but Rebecca's time wasn't beaten till 1975.

In comparison Radcliffe's marathon time would have been a record until 1978 amd Kelly's 1500m PB would have been a gents WR until 1912.

I can't think how Rebbeca could swim those times without "muscley arms".

    I.e Muscely arms....

If you think about it, they needs rather good muscles. How much arm effort they are using. I think its also because swimmers usually have broader shoulders aswell, im not sure really. My upper arms / shoulders are more muscle as from trampolining im using my arms in every thing i do.

I don't think Rebecca has muscly arms in the sense that some sprinters do, like really defined muscles, but she has very strong arms, more lean than a lot of athletes though who seem to have bunched up shoulders. I think she has a great figure!

God I remember watching that race.

I remeber it diffrently though, so when I first saw the race again a few years later it came as a shock. i clearly remember her taking the lead left with 20 rather then 100.

The memory is a funny thing :/

o really?? well thats... different.. i think it was take the tradition away form the olympics a bit but like i said, its different... tbh, we will probably have to wait to see whats its like before a proper judgment can be made, becuase if it is spectacular, then the london team may start a new tradition, but if it doesnt go so well, i can see london being criticised by it :/

Although I'm sure the London 2012 Olympics will go ahead as planned, I hope the government at the time don't enforce any financial restrictions on the games and spoil it for everyone. All you hear in the news these days is about the financial crunch and the worlds money problems. The celebration of our 19 golds in Beiging are coming up soon in London. Lets hope it chears everyone up and we can then look forward to 2012.

Its a shame the parade of our Olympic medal winners in London on Thursday the 16th of October had to take place in mid week when most of our schools kids were still working. I hope the head teachers were able to let the young one's watch it on tv. I was able to watch and thought for once the bbc presented it well. Even put the 1 o'clock news back 15 minutes to allow for the whole parade to be shown. Dame Kelly looked and sounded great as usual. :heartbounce: Apart from the timing of the parade, it was a great event. Even the weather behaved itself. Roll on 2012.:swingin::cheer::clap:

It was amazing how many turned up for the parade, bearing in mind some time had passed since the Games, and it was mid week. Agree, DK was very impressive, and is certainly a very influencial person these days!
