I heard you speaking at the Property Awards yesterday, a fantastic speech and definitely one of the best events I’ve been to. Delighted
to collect an award and my team is thrilled.

I met Dame Kelly Holmes at my staff conference for Newham College at the Troxy where she gave a very moving and captivating speech. I was almost moved to tears when I learned of all the challenges Kelly had strived through to get to where she is today. She is now my 2nd inpsiration (after my mum!) and she has really set the bar for women everywhere and especially for a young black woman like myself. I have recently been accepted into the London Fire Brigade and after Kelly answered my question at the conference about focus and determination, I now have even more determination to succeed and excel as an individual. Thank you Kelly for your wise words of inspiration, success and realism. I’ll be framing the photo we took together and placing it in my room for courage! Thanks!

i watched you win gold in 2004 and you are a massive inspiration to me; with my own running, but also generally with life. Your book taught me about not giving up and following your dreams. I know i will never be as good as you but you can teach us all to aspire and achieve our own personal goals however small or significant they may seem. Thanks for being such a role model and through your huge success teaching us to keep on trying no matter what. I’d love to meet you sometime but really, what you have already shown and done is enough. Love Catherine xx

Kelly, i’ve just finished reading your autobiography and what an inspiation it’s been; i read the last page tears streaming down my face thinking wow, what an amazing woman. I’ve been competing since i was 12 and for the past year have suffered from injury trouble meaning i’ve skipped what i aimed to be my peak season as a top year u17. Reading your journey to success has made me realise that if you want somthing that much nothing can get in your way. There’s so much more i would like to say to you but all i can put it down to is a Thank you. Your words have made me feel every emotion under the sun and have lead to a great ammount of motivatoin to get back on track. Lucy

Thank you for all the encouragement you gave me throughout the girls active scheme. You are such an inspiration and i think you made our school change their thoughts on sport when you visited. All the opportunities i have had have been great and gave me the confidence to try anything new.
I’m now at a new school and getting Girls active going again there and hopefully will be organising more girls active days.
Thank you for everything over the years. :)

Wow! kelly holmes….where should i start?….well lets start with when i was younger back in primary school, at sports day…egg and spoon races, i wasn’t that good, i always cames 2nd or 3rd, but then i went to boarding school at the age of 7, my life changed, i finally found what i was good at (running) my coach told me i had potential, i pushed myself harder and harder, i ran for nottingham county, qualified through to the nationals 3 times in birmingham at alexander stadium, captain for cross-country and athletics out of the whole school, went onto the following school, and pushed myself that hard that i beat the fastest girl in the school, it was a great achievement, you are my idol, and someday it would be amazing to actually meet you, the olympics is my goal! xx kayleigh

Hey Kelly!
I’m currently reading your autobiography for the second time and I really relate to some of the emotions you felt whilst racing. I am the champion sprinter at my school and in my county, coming 1st in most of my sprints, and 2nd in the middle-distace.
I’d love to win a gold medal in either 200m sprint or the tiple jump, which i love also.
I’d also love to be a PTI in the british army for a section of my life, and also be a PE teacher. I just don’t know what to choose. Whichever I’d do yo\‘ll always be the source of inspiration inside me. THANK YOU KELLY!!

When you came to my country, back in 2004, at the Olympic , I knew, somehow, that the gold medal was yours. You see, you have been my star, since the first day I started training, 10 years ago. So far, I have managed to participate in many races as in my country as an athlete and I keep going on. If I had a wish, that would be to meet you in person. One dream to come true.

hi kelly, you are my idol and you have inspiired me to be the best i can be
i have loved running ever since i was little and when i was 9 i joined a club…as a sprinter. That didnt go so well so in 2006 i started middle distance. I was better than i thought and in march 2007 i became U13 girls county champion for 800m. I was doing so well but then i got injured and i have only just started training again. At first i just wanted to stop running because i was so bad BUT it was you who kept me going. I know that sounds cheesy but after reading your book and reading about your injuries and how you came back really helped me and now im on my way to getting my fitness back and someday hopefully going to the olympics and bringing back a gold medal

Jhi Kelly, i just want to say what a inspiration you are to me and how you are one of my idols. At school in English we were debating on who should be one on the empty plinth in Trafalgar square, as you are a amazing person and have achieved so much we thought you. And did a huge power point on you. I learn’t so much i never knew about you and just wanted to thank you for everything you have done for charities. Your work is amazing, and i wish you all the best for the future.

I really like you, as you used to be an olympic runner/sprinter.Running and sprinting are my favourite things, and I wish to be like you some day. I think that to be praised by the queen and to have the name:Dame Kelly Holmes must be a very big acheivment. At my school we were making sports magazines, I did mine about you because you are my favourite sports person. Two of my friends and my teacher went to see you at the leisure centre in Stevenage for school sports week, as they won the sportswrite competition in my school.

Hi Kelly thank you SO MUCH for coming to our National School Sports week celebrations at Leeds Road playing fields in Huddersfield. All the children were thrilled to see and meet you – you were fantastic. I myself have been quoted as being ‘speechless’ – quite something for me! at meeting you and shaking your hand – I was honoured. I have just finished reading your book this week and despite not having 2 gold medals still feel a connection with you and was amazed to read all about your life, your determination and your will to succeed.

Yesterday i was watching tv when i saw my idol who i long to be,
her amazing talent stood out for miles her own technique and special styles, like the way she bounces on the track she watches and listens but never looks back, coz by now she must know that she’s won gold, at end of the race her medal unfolds, as the medal is placed in her hand she steps up on to the winners stand.
Yesterday i was wathching tv when i saw Kelly Holmes who i long to be.
Kelly your an inspiration to the running world. I do running and you inspire me to do better.
