December 2009 update
Happy New Year everyone!
I hope you all had a great Christmas and that you are looking forward to 2009. Don’t forget to set yourself goals and be willing to push yourself to newer and better things.
My site will be changing this year but I hope it will still give you lot of variety and insight into my world, with new challenges and adventure.
I look forward to seeing some of you this year at events and competitions!
Love

Here’s a little catchup on some of my december activities:
17th December
I attended the 2008 UK Coaching Awards at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
The Awards recognize the hard work and dedication of sports coaches and those involved in developing coaches.
I presented an award to coaches of Olympic Double Gold-Medal winner Rebecca Adlington. I also revealed the winners of The Coaching Chain: The Appreciation of Coaching Award that celebrates all the coaches that have contributed along the way to an athlete’s success – on this occasion Rebecca Adlington.
Rebecca (with me on the photo below) also joined me on stage to honour Linda Bennett, Ian Negus, Glenn Smith and Bill Furniss, all of whom played an instrumental part in her journey to two gold medals in the Water Cube in Beijing.

14th December
BBC Sports Personality of the Year at the Echo Arena in Liverpool
I co-presented the brand new category of Coach of the Year Award with Michael Vaughan. David Brailsford (on picture below) won the award for coaching the British Olympic cycling team to eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

9 December
Cynergy NHS HR Event
I did a motivational speech at the 2nd Annual North West HR Directors Conference in Cheshire. A key part of this conference was to focus on the future, creating a leadership academy, collaboration, and mentoring and the need to develop mental toughness, so the organisers asked me to inspire the attendees to strive for world class delivery so they can in turn inspire their colleagues to follow suit.
3rd December
Meeting of the Commission on the Future for Women’s Sport
I attended the meeting as a member of the commission and an advocate for women’s sport.
The role of the Commission is to investigate three major structural problems within women’s sport and to make recommendations which will unlock the potential of women’s sport.
Work will take place over 4 years until January 2013 with a final report at the end, and meetings such as todays are aimed to unfluence the outcome.
