The Blue Planet Run

I was delighted to be asked to help launch the first-ever around the world relay The Blue Planet Run on April 18th in London. This is an amazing new idea that not only challenges the 20 official runners representing 13 nationalities that I had the pleasure of meeting and also help to raise awareness and funds to bring clean drinking water to some of the 1.1 billion people around the world who do not have access and where thousands die.

The international team of 20 athletes will run 10 hours each every, 24 hours a day through 16 countries in just under 100 days to raise awareness and funds for this important cause that is sponsored by The Dow Chemical Company.

I was really impressed by the organisation of the event and amazed by the media interest which showed me that this unique concept will defiantly capture the worlds imagination as the athletes set off on their epic journey. I hope that I was able to play a significant role in the publicity for the event to help promote the run and good cause.

The 20 official runners of the 2007 Blue Planet Run, representing 13 nationalities and ranging in age from 23 to 60, proudly wave their relay batons with my support at the announcement event at the Tate Gallery that introduced the athlete team and global route of the 2007 Run.

I stand on London’s Millennium Bridge as the 2007 Blue Planet Run athletes take their first strides as a team at the announcement event
