August 2009: 5th anniversary
23rd August 2009
Hello Everyone!
23rd-28th August my Olympic 5 year Anniversary…. Five years I know where has it gone??
5 years ago I won my Gold medals it was the best time of my life. Even now when I think of what I did I get a lump in my throat and every time I watch the replay of my races I feel overwhelmed with emotion. I changed a dream into reality and through all the struggles, injuries and setbacks I stuck with my dream of becoming an Olympic Champion because it was worth it.
Athens was the birth place of the Olympics so it was poignant for me to win there.
Whenever I speak about my wins it makes me proud to think that I did it for my country, my fans, my family and friends and of course me.
It was as special time, a mixture of shock and elation.
Since then I have done SO many things I have started my own trust, DKH Legacy Trust, inspiring young people to find and fulfill their potential in sport or in life through our workforce of elite sports performers.
I have been made President of the Commonwealth games of England
On Camp with Kelly is going from strength to strength with nearly 60 elite junior athletes on the programme.
There are so many other things I have done but believe me there are so many more that I want to do. Watch this space and I know that the next five will be just as busy!!
Love, Kelly.
