On Camp with Kelly get together in Birmingham

This was a chance to catchup with some of my OCWK athletes on a one to one basis as well as doing group sessions and classes. You can read all the details and catch up with the latest OCWK news on www.oncampwithkelly.co.uk

On the Saturday we attended the Aviva Grand Prix were four OCWK athletes where in action. I was there to witnessed the great performance of Jenny Meadows when she broke my seven-year-old 800m British indoor record, and I feel she’s in a good position to hopefully bring back a medal from Doha next month.

Sainsburys Active Kids is back and I’m delighted to be supporting it again. The campaign raised over £16.8 millions worth of equipment for schools and groups in 2009 and we hope to make a real difference once more in 2010.

DKH Legacy Trust BT Backing Talent Event

The programme gives ‘up and coming’ stars of the future the chance to find out what it takes to succeed in elite sport. The young people involved took part in challenging workshops and practical activities which include team building, nutrition, communication skills, working with the and effective training techniques.

There are so many promising young performers in East London that it is fantastic to be able to help them on the long journey it takes to reach the top!

My charity not only helps promising young athletes but also disadvantaged young people in need of new directions in their lives.

Click here to visit dkhlegacytrust.org for a lot more details and to find out how you could get involved.

Wedneday 10th

I was a judge for the News of the World Children’s Champions Awards. The Awards are prestigious honours that celebrate those who go further than anyone else to make a positive difference to the lives of children.

In the evening my charity DKH Legacy Trust held a partners event, a chance to catch up with the businesses and people who have helped us to progress over the past year. We took them for a London Eye flight before gathering for a networking session.

Wedneday 27th

I attended the SIS LIVE Broadcast Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, and presented the Sports Award along with SIS MD.

SIS LIVE is Europe’s largest provider of outside broadcast facilities and mobile satellite, and will cover the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October 2010. The Awards recognised over 1200 of the best in the broadcasting industry.

Tuesday 26th

Launch of The London 2012 Young Leaders Programme

My charity the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust will work as the delivery partner, with BP the sponsor of this LOCOG programme, along with the National Young Volunteers Service, who are providing match funding.

We feel very privileged at DKH Legacy Trust to have been chosen by BP to play a role in the delivery of The London 2012 Young Leaders Programme and we are looking forward to playing our role.

As you all know the Sport Relief season is back and I am happy to play a role in it. On the 20th January I was talking to various national and local radios on behalf of Sport relief, and I strongly encourage everybody to take part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on 19th – 21st March!

Click here to go to the Sport relief website for more info and to enter the mile.

I’ll catchup with more updates as soon as I can!

Love, Kelly
