BT London 2012 Ambassador
I was named leader of the team of BT London 2012 Ambassadors in April 2008.
BT is the Official Communications Services Partner and a Sustainability Partner for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
I’m thrilled to be part of BT’s London 2012 Ambassador team. The Olympic and Paralympic Games are not only about sport. It’s also about inspiring people – young and old – all over the world to develop and perform at their best in whatever they choose to do.
Alongside me in the team are Wheelchair Basketball star Ade Adepitan (pictured with me at the launch), Scottish Track Cyclist Chris Hoy, diver Tom Daley, Shanaze Reade, the three times world BMX and track cycling champion. Ellen MacArthur, who sailed single-handed around the world in 2001, Double Olympic gold and silver medallist Ben Ainslie (OBE), and BT employees Richard Fox, a midfielder for Team GB’s cerebral palsy football team and Frances Nicholls who's hoping to compete with Team GB women's Rowing in 2012.
BT is also encouraging its employees to support and get involved with this year’s Games by raising money to help fund the journey of Team GB athletes to Beijing.
